Bio:Lynn Baker is a vocal coach and collaborative pianist in New York City. She is an Assistant Conductor and English diction coach at the New York City Opera. She has been the diction coach for American and British operas including Vanessa, Semele, Hansel and Gretel, King Arthur, Margaret Garner, Turn of the Screw, The Tender Land and Tonkin. She is also on the coaching staff of the Bard Summerscapes Festival and the Renata Scotto Opera Academy. She has been Associate Coach of the Juilliard Opera Center and coached and performed with Opera Festival of New Jersey, Washington Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Pittsburgh Opera Center, Opera Delaware, American Opera Projects, Tulsa Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera. Baker is a frequent collaborative recitalist. Recent performances include a PBS-televised evening from the East Room of the White House, and a concert of Nigerian art song in Mallorca, Spain. In March, 2008 she and the soprano, Harolyn Blackwell, will be featured in a recital of Spanish and Latin American music at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. She is an also avid performer of new and contemporary opera and art song, and a participant in New York City Opera’s VOX program for new American operatic works.. She holds the Master of Music degree in Accompanying from The Juilliard School.
