Become An Associate Editor
As you will see on our Associate Editors page, IDEA is the work of many collaborators.
Professionals in voice, speech, dialects, linguistics, and allied disciplines serve as the authorities on the dialects in the areas they represent, and collect the samples that form the archive.
Associate Editors gather speech samples to document the dialects spoken in their geographical area. They select the speakers, record them, analyze and describe the samples, and transcribe the subjects' speech, sometime phonetically, but more often, simply orthographically. The editors' biographies, photographs, contact details, and a complete record of their contributions are posted on the editors' page.
