You must install KU Anywhere first using the following instructions.

  1. Go to this page and print it out: http://www.technology.ku.edu/kuanywhere/web.shtml

  2. Read up to the part that says "RINGS Security Analyzer" for an explanation of what the VPN does and how it works.

  3. Go to www.ku.edu, click on KYou to log into the KYOU Portal, then on the upper right corner, find the words "KU Anywhere" and click on them.

  4. Starting at the "RINGS Security Analyzer" section of the instructions, follow from there to install and set up the VPN.

  5. When you are successfully logged on to the VPN, you can then use Remote Desktop Connection found in Start -> Programs -> Accessories (or sometimes -> Communications). At this point, you'll need to know the IP address of your office computer, which we can give you.

  6. For future connections to the VPN, I recommend always going through the Portal (www.ku.edu -> KYOU -> KU Anywhere) to eliminate connection issues.

Now that KU Anywhere is installed you can use it to attach to the KU system and use the following instructions to use Terminal Services to attach to your KU office computer.

  1. Prior to trying these instructions at home, be sure to contact the BSchool Help Desk to adjust your office PC for Remote Desktop capabilities and you need to obtain the IP address of your Summerfield workstation:

To obtain your IP address, from your Summerfield Workstation click Start | Run | Type cmd in the box, click open. A DOS window will appear.
