"Good morning everyone. I am Ryan from Minnesota. I was a senior music
ed major 8 years ago until Sep 11 occured. As a result I joined the Army
to be a medic and later became an Army nurse too. I have served all over
the world, but through it all I have continued to practice and perform on
my violin and viola. By means of a special Army program I am able to
finish my degree. I love to sing but to be honest I am weak with choral
methods. I will appreciate any help from each of you I can get. NIce
meeting you.

very busy. I was very glad to see you all today. Many of you seemed like

a lot from you. I have been a piano player for almost all my life so I

"Good Evening,
My name is Andrea Elwess and I am the District Secondary Vocal Coordinator
and Head Choir Director at Rapid City Central High School located in the
beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. I have just - as in 6 hours ago -
completed my first year in this position and I am very excited to reflect
on the year while preparing for the next. I teach 5 choirs: Concert Choir,
10-12 Women's Chorus, "Singers" a select mixed chamber group, "Reflections"
select female ensemble, and "8th Street Swing" a select 9th grade ensemble.
Our school is the largest in the state, serving approximately 2200 students
on a daily basis. We historically have had a very successful Performing
Arts Department and I want to keep it that way! I am so excited to begin
the next step in my musical and educational journey; a bit scared,
incredibly intimidated... but so happy to be working with others along the
same path. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!"

"Hi, my name is Ryan Holmquist. I'm originally from Lindsborg, KS and I
graduated from Bethany College intent on being a band teacher but having
enjoyed voice lessons and choir in college. I studied at a music
conservatory in Sweden for a semester in jazz and trombone, came back in
late June, and got a job teaching 6-12 choir for 3 years in Minneapolis,
KS. I surprised myself by loving vocal music and I just finished my first
year at Salina Central and I do 5 choirs there: men's chorus, two women's
groups, a big mixed choir, a madrigal group, and I do the music for the
winter musical. I'm also a farmer with my dad, I'm missing harvest for
the first time, and had to teach my brother to drive my combine before I
left for Lawrence. I'm excited to start the MME program!"

"Hi! I don't actually teach anything- but i'd like to! I'm the memt 231
student and I'm excited to be studying with everyone in the grad
program.I hope being in a class full of music teachers will encourage me
and maybe a few things will rub off on me as well. This coming August
will be the 2nd semester of my sophmore year and although I'm focusing on
vocal music, I also play the violin, viola, keys, bass guitar, and drums.
I love music, both classical and otherwise and spend a large majority of
my time writing music that is performed by the band i'm in- Freelance.
Music is my life. It's what always puts a smile on my face and I couldn't
imagine doing anything else with my life."

"Greetings. My name is Matt Schloneger and I am the private voice teacher
at Hesston College in Hesston, KS. Hesston is one of the few private
residential two-year colleges remaining in the country, and it also happens
to be my alma mater. I also am chair of the Division of Fine Arts, direct
the college's performing arts series and teach music theatre. I have a
background in opera performance and currently do a lot of performing with
The Sunflower Trio, a chamber music group consisting of my wife Rebecca,
who is a violinist with the Wichita Symphony, and my uncle, who is the
piano professor at Hesston. I have two children, Jonah, 6 and Lily, 2.
I'm excited to be starting work towards a PhD in Vocal Pedagogy this
summer. While I have fallen into conducting, especially as music director
for shows, I have never had a formal conducting course and I'm looking
forward to this!"

"Hello. I'm Leah and I teach at Antigo High School which is located in Northern Wisconsin. I have 9-
12 grade and I direct a large mixed ensemble, a women's chorale, a swing choir and a Madrigal
group. I help direct our spring musical every year which I love as well as participate in our
