Berlin, September 1998

The first meeting of the journal's Editorial Board was held at the ESEM98 (Econometric Society European Meetings) in Berlin at Humboldt University on September 2, 1998 from 9.30 - 10.30 am. Among the decisions made at that meeting were the following: (1) Funds should be raised for an occasional prize to be awarded for the best paper published in the journal during some fixed time period. (2) An online relational database for manuscript tracking should be developed and maintained at Carnegie Mellon University, as has been proposed by Stephen Spear. Access to the online system will be password protected and available only to members of the journal's Editorial Board. (3) Proceed with the installation of a European mirror for MD's web site, to be hosted by the London City University Business School, as has been offered by Mark Salmon.

There were meetings in Sydney during July 1999 with those members of the Board who attended the Australasian Meetings of the Econometric Society at the University of Technology Sydney and the Workshop on Economic Dynamics organized by Steve Keen at the University of Western Sydney Macarthur. It was decided that there should be an Australasian mirror site for the journal. Carl Chiarella indicated that it could be arranged at the University of Technology in Sydney.

Amsterdam, July 2004

There was a Board meeting in Sydney during July 2004 with those members of the Board who attended the Society for Computational Economics conference at the University of Amsterdam.  It was decided to proceed with conversion to online submission and electronic processing of submissions, to go live in the fall.  A beta test version of the new system, created by Steve Spear, has been in testing and is working well.  It also was decided to consider the possibility of funding an honorary lecture at future conferences of the Society for Computational Economics and to publish each of the lectures that we fund in the journal's Honorary Lectures section.
