This project will collect, organize and archive research on politics in
the post-communist region. Scholars on both sides of the former Iron Curtain
have produced valuable research on critical questions of politics, including
the process of democratization, the development of free elections and political
parties, minority attitudes toward the regime, the changing status of women,
and the influence of formal and informal political institutions on resource
allocation. Unfortunately, much of this work remains mutually inaccessible.
My conversations with researchers in the US, UK, Russia and Ukraine have
underscored this problem. The archive's main goal is to provide a mechanism
to share previously inaccessible research material and promote cross-national
and cross-institutional dialogue.
Please submit research papers about politics in the post-communist world
to the database. Papers that are partisan or commercial, advocate policies
that are violent or racist, or otherwise address inappropriate topics will
not be accepted. Please include your name, e-mail address, and copy of the
paper in pdf, doc or txt format. You may access papers by searching or browsing
the archive.
