Fiji Four - Text

The subject is an Indian female.  She was born on the 11th of November, 1979, and is currently working as a massage therapist.  She has an undergraduate college education. 

She was born and raised in Cuvu Sigatoka, Fiji, where she lived until age 19.  She then lived in San Jose, California until the age of 27.  She has since moved back to Fiji (Serua).  Running time 00:04:01.

TRANSCRIPTION OF UNSCRIPTED SPEECH

I was born in Cuvu Sigatoka [?], which is about, um, let’s see—hour and a half from here.  Where we are at _Wellesley [?]  And, uh, my dad and parents got married there.  And you know, so, we’ve been generations and generations since we migrated from India. Um, so ever since we’ve been here in Fiji.  You know, lived there.  And…here we are. Um, my grandfather is from Tamil Nadu.  And my grandma is from, uh, Bangladesh.  So we’re a mix of Tamile\ and Bengali a little bit.  Uh, my grandfather always says I look like my grandmother.  Which is freaky.  But, um, my dad was born in India, but raised here.  He was a baby, about four months old, when he moved to Fiji.  And my mom was born here in a place called Sana Sana, which is ______________ about where I am—Cuvu Sigatoka—it’s about half an hour going towards Nandi.  So…
