Bio:Lynn Baker is a vocal coach and collaborative pianist in New York City.  She is an Assistant Conductor and English diction coach at the New York City Opera.  She has been the diction coach for operas in English including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Antony and Cleopatra, Vanessa, Semele, King Arthur, Margaret Garner, The Turn of the Screw, The Rape of Lucretia, The Tender Land, Hansel and Gretel, and Tonkin.  In 2008, she was coach for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra/Carnegie Hall co-production of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, which was also recorded for the Naxos American label.

Lynn has been on the coaching staff of the Seattle Opera Young Artists Program, the Renata Scotto Opera Academy, the Opera New Jersey Young Artist Program, and The Juilliard Opera Center.  She has also coached and performed with Bard Summerscapes Festival, The Washington Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Opera Delaware, American Opera Projects, New York Opera Society, Tulsa Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera.  Lynn is a frequent collaborative recitalist and recent venues include the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Terrace Theater (Washington, DC) and The Morgan Library and Museum Gilder Lehrman Hall (New York, NY).  She is an avid performer of new and contemporary opera and art song, and a participant in New York City Opera’s VOX program for new American operatic works.  She holds the Master of Music degree in Accompanying from The Juilliard School.
