Apparently very serious in his desire to speak English without an accent, and this sample is useful in revealing in what ways the serious and skilled French student of English still reveals his origins. I was born to French parents in Saint-Nazaire France in 1963. My father was a chief mechanic on board of oil tankers. I am 44 and I work in a primary school as a secretarial cum administrative assistant to the headmaster. Our family moved to the “Bas Chablais” region and settled here in 1968. I started taking English lessons when I was 10 years old with a private teacher who drove to our house every Sunday afternoon. Lessons were about one hour and a half. I passed the French Baccalaureat in June 1984. I am still studying English and I have registered with Blaise Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand. It is distance learning. Students are not sent any courses by post. The CEAD or distance learning services post courses to a platform each student can access with his/her nick and a password.
I recorded this on Sunday14th October 2007.
