TRANSCRIPTION OF UNSCRIPTED SPEECH
I was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1965. I went to college at the university of Barcelona, Spain, and then I, um, I got a um, well, a huge fellowship from a bank. Ah, there the bank gives money to students, you know. So with the fellowship I um, went to Grad school in John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, ah, and then I took several trips, you know, to Spain to do film work and then I got another fellowship to finish and I finished ah, ah, well, I was in Kansas, um, and ah, I finish in 1998, June. So three years ago and now I'm teaching here as an assistant professor. I went to Ireland in 1986, so yeah '86. Yeah, wow! Fifteen years.fifteen years ago! And I work as an au pair for a, for an Irish family in Dublin. And I spend there five months and I just love it. Oh!.It is so great and I wanted to stay there. I wanted to live in Ireland and, ah, and actually I'm jumping ahead. But, ah, it is only four years ago I got a job in Dublin in a, in a woman's college and I turned it down, which was like, such is life. But when I was in Ireland that's where I got my, ah, my real first contact with the language. And then I went back to Spain and got myself a boyfriend.
