Saskatchewan Four - Text

Subject is a white female, born in 1980. Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She has a high school education and has been living in Australia for one year working as a nanny. She is the daughter of Saskatchewan subjects #3 and #5. Recorded amd edited on May 7, 2000 by Susan Stackhouse.

As is the case in her father's (Saskatchewan3) delivery, this subject employs rising intonation throughout the recording. She is also under pitching and with the exception of the rise at the ends of her sentences the pitch range is narrow. As in her mother's (Saskatchewan5) speech delivery there is evidence of glottal stopping in the initial position when words begin with a vowel sound. There is also a slight example of Canadian Raising (mid central starting point when the following consonant is voiceless) in strike, white light, out, however, as in all samples from Saskatchewan, the vowel is more open than is typically heard in eastern Canada. This subject turns the medial [t] into a [d] as in beaudiful.

Further editing 9.23.00 by Paul Meier. Running time: 00:02:13.
