TRANSCRIPTION OF UNSCRIPTED SPEECH

When I was a little girl, I was readin’ a story to my mom—we’re—we were just goin’ through the book, an’ I was jus’ readin’ all the words, an’ I always sounded everything out, jus’ word for word, jus’ every little syllable—an’ I got to the word “Determined” a’ I sounded out “deeter-minded.” So now the whole family, when they come to a word “determined,” everybody says “deeter-minded”—they’re all deeter-minded to do everything. So that—that has stuck with our whole family.
