Since December 2nd, 2002, we have on display a set of experiments on Acetabularia. This series of Flash animations prepared by Jean-Claude Le Hir documents the results of grafts between different portions of the algal cell.

On November 27th, thanks to Davide Bassi (the first author), Tim Palmer (the Editor) and Paleontology a recent contribution to the knowledge of Subterraniphyllum has been added to our Library.

On November 26th, a new gallery with Triassic Dasycladales from Croatia has been added to the site. This photo-album, which includes 37 images, is based on the material displayed by Tonći Grgasović last year in Cluj-Napoca at our 4th Regional Symposium.

The same day we celebrated our visit No. 10,000 to our home page.

All you "Algae" people missed the Newsletter edited by Corinne Danielli. But we have found a way to bring it back, better than ever. It will appear online twice a year in a summer and a winter edition. The new questionnaire was posted on November 6th. The last Newsletter of the old series (numbered 11 and dated 1993) is currently available in the form of a 415 KB 'pdf' file.

On September 11th, thanks to Jean-François Raynaud and Total Fina Elf the IFAA was granted permission to duplicate any contribution dealing with fossil or modern algae previously published in Bulletin du Centre de Recherches de Pau - SNPA and Bulletin / Mémoires des Centres de Recherches Exploration-Production Elf-Aquitaine

New "Links" added on September 5th

On August 29th, thanks to Gérard Bignot and Revue de Micropaléontologie the original paper on Zergabriella is currently available from our Library. In addition, thanks to Hardy Jost and Geociências another paper was made available to the web. 

On August 28th, a total of 10 new photographic sets have been added to our site Gallery. They correspond to the material displayed by Bruno Granier last year in Cluj-Napoca at our 4th Regional Symposium, that is to pictures used to document 4 papers (currently in press):

August 27th marked the time for a main change: following of the big move of our largest folders (Gallery, Library) to the IMBI [International Marine Biodiversity Initiative] server which took place last year - on July 9th -, the remaining part of our site is progressively moving to the server of the University of Kansas at Lawrence!

On August 19th, there was a total of 102 subscribers to the CALCALGA list!

The first circular for our 8th International Symposium was posted on July 21st.

Following the decision of the closing meeting of our 7th International Symposium in Nanjing, the 8th International Symposium will be held in Granada (Spain) from Thursday 18 to Saturday 20 September 2003. The first circular and pre-registration forms are available online since June 24th.

On April 28th, our site celebrated its second year of existence!

On February 18th, a new gallery with Upper Jurassic Dasycladales from the Northern Calcareous Alps has been added to the site. This photo-album, which includes 19 images, is based on the material displayed by Michael Rasser last year in Cluj-Napoca at our 4th Regional Symposium.

On January 25th, thanks to Isao Inouye, a first set of 15 pictures documenting modern Dasycladales from Japan has been added to the site.

On January 17th, we added some site statistics reviewing the last two years.
