The IFAA, i.e. the International " Fossil Algae " Association, is a non-profit organization interested in promoting the study of fossil algae sensu lato: taxonomy, morphology, biology, biostratigraphy, paleo-ecology, mineralization, etc. PLEASE Check our News page for updates!

To join the Association register online through the Member Directory of the IFAA or by requesting a registration form by e-mail and returning it completed. There are NO fees or dues.

The site is intended to serve its associates as a bulletin board, library, and catalog of references to include all aspects of the study of "Fossil Algae": past, present and future.

Currently, the site is compartmented into three main sections accessible both from the sidebar (hover buttons change from blue to green when accessed) and from these hypertext links:
- "The Library" - downloadable 'pdf' files of E-Books and E-Papers;
- "The Gallery" - pictures of your favorite algae;
- "The Archives" - mainly information concerning palaeontological collections: their location and content, as well as on reprints of papers, but also some special reports.

We urge you to submit contributions to these sections!
Note: Opinions, findings, conclusions and recommendations expressed by contributors to this site do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors.

The site comprises parts where you can load information. In the side bar, the corresponding hover buttons will turn from blue to red. These sections include entertainment pages (including a quiz page), a poll page, a message board, publication news, etc.

Do you have any comments, doubts, questions, remarks, suggestions, etc.? Do you want to give us some feedback? If so, sign our "Guestbook"! This is - in addition to the CALCALGA list - the easiest way to communicate with us. We thank those you already signed it!

A sidebar panel "Affiliate Ring" calls up a set of affiliate sites, i.e. a ring of websites called Fossil and Modern Algae, that brings together a set of pages dealing with benthic algae and/or bacteria.

Unless specified, the works included in the IFAA web site are used by permission either of their authors or of the International "Fossil Algae" Association.

The IFAA page was launched on April 28th, 2000 [Last modified: October 7th, 2005].
