Levant data sets:

Folder containing CAMEO-coded events (N=154,824 events in original ; N= 139,027 after duplicate filtering); coverage is April 1979 to December 2009. TABARI coding dictionaries and indices are also included. Source is Reuters. This version of the data uses ISO-3166 ALPHA-3 country codes and CAMEO sub-state actor coding conventions, and was coded using the latest version of TABARI (0.7.1B2), so at present it is our best version of the Levant data.

Folder containing CAMEO-coded events (N=247,351 in original ; N= 225,945 after duplicate filtering); coverage is April 1979 to December 2009. TABARI coding dictionaries and indices -- which are the same as used with the Reuters data -- are also included. Source is AFP where available, otherwise Reuters -- see the Read.Me.txt file for details.

This is a very substantial revision of the AFP sequences that we produced prior to the June-09 version and corrects for an assortment of misplaced files as well as systematically filling in for periods where AFP is unavailable on Lexis-Nexis. If you need the older files for replication purposes, contact us.

Folder containing WEIS-coded events (N=190,784); coverage is April 1979 to March 2005. TABARI coding dictionaries are also included. This version of the data uses ISO-3166 ALPHA-3 country codes and CAMEO sub-state actor coding conventions, so a number of the codes are quite different than those used in earlier Levant data sets. It combines Reuters and AFP sources; there is a fairly serious discontinuity where the sources switch.

Folder containing tab-delimited text files of weekly totals of WEIS-coded events (N=201,771) by major event type -- verbal cooperation, material cooperation, verbal conflict, and material conflict -- for the following dyads: USA-ISR, USA-PAL, ISR-PAL and ISR-LEB. Coverage is April 1979 to December 2004. Count_Type.c program source code is also included.
