there were many important people who worked with determination to make

The case Brown v. Topeka
Board of Education has affected us all. In our profiles section, you
can find a number of people who either participated in the case or who
were affected significantly by its outcome.
Some were people who probably only got a chance to shine because Brown
overturned the previous separate-but-equal status established by Plessy
v. Ferguson. Some people, such as attorney Thurgood Marshall, played
such a large part in helping a landmark case come to pass, that they were
rewarded later on in life. Marshall himself became a Supreme Court Justice.
Others, such as Prentice Gautt, used the new opportunities established
through the decision to desegregate schools to live out their dreams.
Gautt played in the first integrated Oklahoma high school football game
and later became the first African-American to play football at the University
of Oklahoma, which was, at the time, a national football powerhouse.
